Cox regression of clustered event times with covariates missing not at random

Motivated by a recent tuberculosis (TB) study, this paper is concerned with covariates missing not at random (MNAR) and models the potential intracluster correlation by a frailty. We consider the regression analysis of right‐censored event times from clustered subjects under a Cox proportional hazards frailty model and present the semiparametric maximum likelihood estimator (SPMLE) of the model parameters. An easy‐to‐implement pseudo‐SPMLE is then proposed to accommodate more realistic situations using readily available supplementary information on the missing covariates. Algorithms are provided to compute the estimators and their consistent variance estimators. We demonstrate that both the SPMLE and the pseudo‐SPMLE are consistent and asymptotically normal by the arguments based on the theory of modern empirical processes. The proposed approach is examined numerically via simulation and illustrated with an analysis of the motivating TB study data.     

Genetic distance,international experience and the performance of cross-border R&D for EMNEs

Cross-border R&D can contribute to the enhancement of independent innovation capabilities of emerging markets multinational enterprises (EMNEs) by benefiting from knowledge management. However, scant research exists examining the location impact of cross-border R&D for EMNEs on performance implications. This paper fills this important theoretical gap by building upon the literature of genetic distance in connection with knowledge management. We use a panel data of Chinese high-tech listed companies to empirically examine the impact of genetic distance on the performance of cross-border R&D and the role played by international experience. Our results reveal a positive relationship between genetic distance and the performance of cross-border R&D. Importantly, we highlight the motivation for cross-border R&D of EMNEs to acquire technical knowledge magnifies the positive effects of genetic distance and performance. Furthermore, our analysis indicates that international experience significantly enhanced the positive effect of genetic distance on cross-border R&D performance. We conclude this paper by discussing theoretical contributions to genetic distance, international management and knowledge management, as well as practical implications for cross-border R&D of EMNEs.     

A Flexible Nonparametric Test for Ordered and Umbrella Alternatives

A flexible and robust test for the ordered and umbrella alternatives is proposed in this paper. A two-step procedure is presented to make the proposed test be easily applicable. Type I error and power of the given approach are thoroughly investigated by extensive Monte Carlo studies.

"光棍节"已成为新兴节日的典型代表。近年来,这一节日的影响力和社会认可度迅速攀升。在"光棍节"的形成和发展过程中,媒体起到了关键性作用,并且,从2003年初创至今,媒体所呈现的"光棍节"形象已发生流变。对主要报纸媒体资料的研究发现,"光棍节"的媒体形象从早期的社会文化形象和娱乐形象逐步演变为突出商业气息的商业形象,因此,要加强媒体的社会文化传承功能和市场化环境下媒体的自觉和自主性。     

论水平扭剪应力场对大裂缝系统的控制

本文根据地质力学和岩体结构力学原理，探讨水平扭剪应力场在大裂缝系统形成、转化和分布中的重要控制作用及其物理模型．文中认为，大裂缝系统是较大的直压型裂缝网络与扭剪型裂缝网络叠加的产物，主要分布在较强的水平扭剪应力和术平直压应力复合作用的区块；水平扭剪应力场是改造和控制大裂缝网络结构异向性的最重要因素。这为研究和勘探较大的隐伏裂缝系统，提供了新的成藏模式和理论依据。     

农村“邻里互助”养老法律规制研究

农村“邻里互助”养老符合人权保障的内在逻辑,是贯彻实质法治的必然要求,其本质上是对老年人服务权利的保障。目前,农村“邻里互助”养老面临着经费不足、专业护理人才匮乏、服务质量偏低、缺乏有效的管理评估机制、应急处置制度尚未建立等问题。对此,需要建立可持续的资金保障机制、管理评估机制、人才激励机制、争议处理机制、应急处置机制等,修订和完善养老服务的内容及标准,以建立健全农村养老服务体系,促进农村“邻里互助”养老服务长效发展。

Hazard rate ordering of the second-order statistics from multiple-outlier PHR samples

In this paper, we compare the hazard rate functions of the second-order statistics arising from two sets of independent multiple-outlier proportional hazard rates (PHR) samples. It is proved that the submajorization order between the sample size vectors together with the supermajorization order between the hazard rate vectors imply the hazard rate ordering between the corresponding second-order statistics from multiple-outlier PHR random variables. The results established here provide theoretical guidance both for the winner's price for the bid in the second-price reverse auction in auction theory and fail-safe system design in reliability. Some numerical examples are also provided for illustration.     

Adaptive multiple importance sampling for Gaussian processes

In applications of Gaussian processes (GPs) where quantification of uncertainty is a strict requirement, it is necessary to accurately characterize the posterior distribution over Gaussian process covariance parameters. This is normally done by means of standard Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms, which require repeated expensive calculations involving the marginal likelihood. Motivated by the desire to avoid the inefficiencies of MCMC algorithms rejecting a considerable amount of expensive proposals, this paper develops an alternative inference framework based on adaptive multiple importance sampling (AMIS). In particular, this paper studies the application of AMIS for GPs in the case of a Gaussian likelihood, and proposes a novel pseudo-marginal-based AMIS algorithm for non-Gaussian likelihoods, where the marginal likelihood is unbiasedly estimated. The results suggest that the proposed framework outperforms MCMC-based inference of covariance parameters in a wide range of scenarios.
